Better Watch Out

I feel a little guilty jumping right into Christmas only a couple days after Thanksgiving. I'd like to savor it a little bit more, you know? But alas, I've allowed myself to get caught up in the Christmas fervor along with everyone else. With the two oldest at college this year, our family is getting a head start on Christmas. We've already watched Elf, The Holiday, and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. The tree is trimmed with twinkle lights, shiny bulbs, and sparkly baubles. I can still smell the spicy and cool clean scents of the molasses cookies and peppermint patties my sister and I made tonight. The vocals of Michael Buble and Josh Groban are floating in my head and causing me to hum at random. I haven't done a bit of homework this holiday weekend, and finals are coming up, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it!

Thankful, So Thankful

This year I find myself especially aware of how thankful I am for relationships. I love my family, and I love my dear friends. They make life absolutely splendid.

Put On A Pot

I have many fond memories from my childhood. One of them is Saturday morning breakfast with my family, the table laid with blended orange juice, scones, jam and a French press. I remember taking turns with my brother to push it down, and my dad reminding us to do it slowly. Another is one of my parents asking, "Would you like some coffee?" when they had friends over for dinner and it was time for dessert. It meant that the adults were going to talk in the living room and the kids were going to go play. In my mind the scent of coffee still triggers ideas of maturity and adulthood that I sensed as a kid. I love that smell. I love that a smell has the power to take you back to a single moment in time.

They're married!
It was elegant, whimsical, personal and so her.

Whirling

It's Friday. Are you exhausted too? I can't even recount to you what I did this week, but I know it was a lot. My mind is still whirling. Let's dance.

Do you ever...

...have those nights when you just feel like you want to eat carbs for the rest of your existence? Well, maybe you don't, but I do. I would kill to snuggle up with a brown sugar bacon biscuit or pretzel bites and a jar of sweet jam in my bed right now. I know, I'm kind of a freak.

Ravishing

With each day that passes, my thankfulness for the marvelous friends I have grows. The love I feel for them them wants to pour out of me. Isn't it wonderful to be happy?

PS. Ravish. A panini of crusty bread, pears in white wine, brie, arugula and fig jam. Brioche bread pudding with chunks of chocolate, caramel sauce and vanilla whipped cream. Need I torture you any further? Treat yourself!
