Golden Globes Hits

The "look" for this year's Golden Globes seemed to be nudes, gray, long sleeves, space-age angular shoulders, poorly-fitted, and an absurd amount of inappropriate sagging wrinkled cleavage. On a more pleasant note, above are what I deemed to be the cream of the crop. These ladies are quite sophisticated.

I happened to "StumbleUpon" the Met's Costume Institute online and just about died. This past fall I took an art history course "Fashion, Nation, and Culture" which focused on the history of Italian fashion from a political aspect. Needless to say it has been my favorite class taken at university, and will likely remain so. As an art history major, I would love to have the opportunity to work with costumes somewhere like the Met or Smithsonian.

Where I'm At

"Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God."

Dora Maar

My visit to the Picasso exhibit at the Seattle Art Museum was a lengthy one, just about two hours. Amidst a seemingly endless road of galleries filled with bizarre portraits and sculptures, this painting of Dora Maar was my absolute favorite. It's the colors. They make me feel happy. Seriously, they do! She seems like she would have been a sassy lady!

Maturing

For me, maturing is coming in the form of slowly accumulating things for my future apartment and (very) slowly acquiring some "homemaking" skills. My dear friend Elisa and I got our aesthetic fix down at University Village yesterday afternoon where I bought these bowls (I now have a set of six) and trivet at Anthropologie. One of my hopes for this year is to learn how to put meals together, rather than relying too much on the readymade or frozen. I am currently reading A Homemade Life, where each chapter is followed by a corresponding recipe. Read it!

Take me here. Please.

So...instead of going out on New Years Eve I had a festive dinner at Terracotta Red with my family, followed by a viewing of Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants 2 (I know, I'm too cool for words). Needless to say, Greece made me think of Italy, which made me think of all this good stuff.
